As an intern for the City of Johnson City, TN, I had the opportunity to lead a special project called The Faces Behind the Businesses—a social media series spotlighting local small business owners on the city’s Instagram page. I personally visited each business, photographed the owners in their spaces, and conducted casual, conversational interviews to capture their stories. I then wrote short features highlighting their journeys and collaborated with the city team to share them online. It was an incredibly valuable experience, and I learned so much from the inspiring people who make up our local business community.
